Unknown Nordic is a Danish design and manufacturing company. With its roots in the Scandinavian design traditions Unknown Nordic creates long lasting functional and aesthetic products of very high quality.
Natural resources are all around us. At Unknown Nordic we specialize in fibers extracted from volcanic lava stones. Nature has generated lava for millions of years and internal outbreaks have helped to form the crust of the earth. We retrieve the stones from the crust and convert them into fibers.
All the products from Unknown Nordic are handmade, making each product unique. The shape is the same but the pattern varies together with the hands manufacturing the products.
A significant sign of our design is the open pattern. A reflection of how nature is very much part of it. We learned how animals find comfort and safety from shelters in the tree crowns and tried to copy this into our designs. Sitting in one of our Bios Hanging Loungers you will experience the same comfort, calmness and safety.
